My Background

Isis Collier is a violinist, who is a current graduate of Cornell College in Mount Vernon, Iowa where she pursued a double degree in a BA of Music and Kinesiology Exercise-Science. A recent graduate with a  M.S. in Athletic Training from the University of Central Florida. Isis has been playing the violin since the age of 4 and has always had a passion for music. She started at the Hintz Academy of Music with Mrs. Katherine Hintz where she studied the Suzuki Method. At the age of 12 up until the age of 18, Isis received full scholarships to attend the Sphinx Performance Academy; an intensive 2-week camp for Black and Latino string players, which also helped Isis gain the skills to be audition and be accepted into several colleges without having a concrete string teacher on the island. As a music major at Cornell, Isis was the chair 2nd violinist and played in the 1st violin section in the colleges orchestra and was a member of the Steel Pan Orchestra on campus as well. Isis started her business “Virgin Islands Violinist” when she was 15 years old during the summer, when several requests of her talent were needed for upcoming weddings. Since she was 8 years old, Isis has been playing in groups and bands, especially in a trio named Sweet Stringz that included her teacher and her friend and colleague. For the future, Isis aspires to become a studio musician or in a movie orchestra, as well as opening a music studio on the island of St. Thomas for children of all ages, and working as athletic trainer in the NFL.
